What gets you out of bed in the morning?
The prospect of empowering individuals, organizations, SMEs and teams always keep me up late at night into the wee hours of the morning, if not waking early for them.
What for you is your most meaningful achievement as a leader so far?
Witnessing my mentees, coachees and even peers I have supported reach a more vibrant, fulfilling and happy lifestyle. Whether or not they return to extend their gratitude, hearing and seeing them pay it forward to others towards an elevated version of themselves rings so much meaning to me. We do things that we do more than just to answer ‘what’s in it for me?’—this is the value I am blessed to be able to develop through the guidance of those who came before me. I am humbled when I’m able to change people’s lives in paying it forward as well. Life is short and we only live once, so make sure we live today feeling fulfilled no matter how small the win.
What advice do you have for entrepreneurs who want to scale their business, but are having challenges with it now?
Find yourself first by answering “who you are?” and you’ll naturally find answers to your “whys” before anything else. “Who you are” encompasses your deepest desires, dreams and passion. It’s what the DNA is built upon towards the business’ direction. It will ensure an unshakeable foundation before strategies come into play for success in our results. As success is how an individual, brand, organization or team defines it, value placement is relevant to the way we interpret success. Not just based on benchmarking nor others’ advice, but rather on what we consider as ‘success’. This is important for an entrepreneur to revisit, especially if they aspire but have difficulty in scaling their business. One must revisit their core values first, then the next redirection will be easier. When that’s unshakeable, the right people can now be hired to work with us for our dream. In a sense, it’s revisiting, redefining (if needed) and validating your vision first.
Being a progressive leader means ________.
…executing our accountability no matter how gradual or slow (but stable) its increase may be. Being progressive means there’s an acceptance of setbacks and shortcomings, but still, having a mindset of “sometimes we win and sometimes we learn.” Every loss, wrong decision, or negativity, a leader sees as a learning opportunity. An opportunity to learn more, to be more, and to give more…and the gratitude to be able to lead more. There’s elements of stubborness, patience, strength of heart and grit, that no matter what happens, our direction is set straight towards the vision we want to manifest in life.
